Kevin Miller
I spontaneously took 2 weeks...alone. Just me. I had a project to do, but also spent nearly every evening here. The sunset over the waves is glorious to me. The time alone gave me an OS upgrade. I'm a better Kevin for it.
What is the Venice area like?
This is a great little area with a fun vibe - downtown Venice is full of quaint little shops, wonderful Italian restaurants, and, of course, beautiful views of the beach. Venice is the shark tooth capital of the world, and you'll often find them washed up on the beaches. It's a super bike-able area - within 20 miles you can access just about anything with the Legacy Trail, Venetian Waterway Trail, and sidewalks everywhere.

House Logistics
About the house - when you arrive there will be notes on the fridge with suggestions for favorite restaurants, biking, and more - all the details you need to know (when trash/recycling comes, wifi password, etc) will be right there for you. We'll talk with you on your specific needs and ensure you're connected with whatever resources will help you most.
A lot of the landscaping is pretty natural - we aim to keep it fairly low-maintenance, and have worked to utilize as much rainwater as possible to keep everything growing. We have amazing apple banana trees - when ripe, they taste like a perfectly sweet banana with a slight citrus zest!
The Living Room
Complete with an electric fireplace and smart TV, you're set for relaxing and lounging - and, the couch converts to a queen-size bed for additional sleeping.

Kitchen/Dining Room
In the kitchen, we have a Kitchenaid mixer, utensils and eating/cooking/baking ware. With all the fresh fruit and vegetables from Detweilers, you can stock a lot in the fridge! (Crazy kitchen hack - wrap your fresh greens in tin foil - they will keep for up to a month in the fridge!)

Bathrooms
There are two bathrooms - one with a full jacuzzi bath/shower, and the other with a large walk-in shower and double nozzles.
There are plenty of towels and washcloths in the closet in the green bathroom.

The Front Room
Back Guest Room
Queen bed with lamps on both sides. The closet is a beautiful cedar-lined closet, and the room-darkening curtains keep it cool and dark.

This educational room has a great view of the wood duck boxes and for observing all of the animals that hang out in the backyard. Also has private access to the bathroom. The twin bed in here has a twin trundle underneath which can convert it to a king-size.

Primary Bedroom
On the complete opposite end of the house (through the kitchen) is the primary bedroom. It has a king-sized bed, and double closets - one will be empty for you to use. There are french doors for a private entrance/exit, and an air conditioner in this room for the ultimate cool space. Private access to the primary bath.

RV/Boat Storage
As a full-time RVing family, we originally got this house because of the space for our RV. Having a 30-amp hookup spot in FL that isn't just in your front yard is rare! This property has a large enough side area to park large cars, boats and RVs, complete with electric hookup.

Lanai and Backyard Oasis
Straight off the kitchen is the wonderful lanai - our most favorite room in the house! The lanai (Floridian for porch) is our special haven - with the fans blowing and one wall fully glass and large screen doors, it's the perfect place to relax and unwind while keeping the bugs at bay.
Stackable HE front-loading washer/dryer with detergent already there. It's great to have the outdoors flowing inside - you can sit on the porch with all the doors open for an extension straight to the backyard, complete with the sounds of the pond flowing right out the door.
Have fun, enjoy and explore/create here. Enjoy your time and rest and relax!

For the Bird Enthusiast:
There are many birds unique to FL, including the Florida scrub jay, which can be seen at Oscar Scherer State Park and along the bike trail to Shamrock park.
We have counted over 100 species of bird in our yard! Owls, herons and egrets, ducks, hawks, anhingas and cormorants, parrots, songbirds, doves, and the daily visit from the bald eagles. Many of the birds come to our feeder in the morning and others are attracted to our pond and the delicious fish that live beneath the water lilies.
