Work: Is it All Toil And Turmoil?

pin for later

People dream of grand adventures and all of the fun they’ll have “one day.” Yet so often, that dreaded word “work” holds us back. Is your work drudgery that you are forced to do to “be a responsible adult”? Are you stressed and exhausted and wishing there were a better way?

Well I believe there IS a better way. Work does not have to be a burden we have to bear, but an opportunity for us to serve others, give back, and work in our passions as well.

3 Big Perception Shifts

There are three important things to consider when it comes to your perception of work:

  • The workplace is constantly changing -“A recent report published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that the U.S. will add roughly 20 million new jobs by the year 2020 – a nearly 14% annual rate of growth in new jobs over the next decade.”
  • So much power is simply in the mindset. I’ll discuss an “entrepreneurial mindset” below - it’s a perspective shift rooted in the growth mindset that allows one to look at life as, “what does this make possible?”
  • Think outside the box. No longer are we clocking in at the same job for thirty years. “The median tenure for workers age 25 to 34 is 3.2 years.*” At 4.6 years for the overall average, there are more and more opportunities to explore work for a season as well as look at multiple streams of income.
