Ah, Santa Claus

This week we read aloud, "The Wonderful Truth About Santa" for a quick discussion on what you can choose to focus on as your children navigate magic and whimsy as they grow and mature.

We love this book as a simple way to address the beauty of Saint Nick through the joy of giving anonymously.

I love how it reminds children not to break the news to others while also helping them to understand the spirit of the "Santa way" of giving without any attention being brought to you.

There are so many great books. I've found it's been helpful to have these books on hand not to force the moment, but have available to help guide the conversation when they come up naturally - and to ensure you cover some of those essentials (like not spilling the beans to all your friends).

Where are we this week?

Christmas in Florida is definitely the way we like it. We've taken pictures in front of this setup the last two years down in the Florida Keys.

We had the pleasure of having my parents with us for Christmas this year, and had a great day lounging around a state park where we're camped!

What is your focus for Christmas?

For some families, this is a very religious focused holiday. For others, Santa steals the show. Regardless, Christmastime often fosters a spirit of giving, and our goal with our own children is to help them take that generosity throughout the year, and not just on a holiday.

Your Weekly Challenge:

Check out this book above, as well as look at what other options you might be interested in getting to help your children understand what your Christmas celebrating is all about.

Be ready for when it comes up naturally in your home, so your child knows the door to conversation is always open.
